Following up the ADAS letter about the Copper Beech tree next to the Muller development, Ralph Warburton has spoken with Alan Millington, Planning Officer for Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council, and subsequently with Ruth Conley, also of C&NBC, on the subject of the tree. The Copper Beech has a Tree Preservation Order and is in a conservation area. No work at all can be carried out, Ruth Conley has said, without prior consultation with the Planning Office and because it is such an important amenity to the conservation area of Audlem.

Any work must be for the benefit of the tree and passers by and NOT for the benefit of the new build about to take place. Ruth has suggested a vigilant Beech Watch on the tree and to ring her on 01270 537094 to get her support to stop any unauthorised work. The Planning Office has been asked that ADAS is alerted prior to any such work. Ralph Warburton has asked the planners, 'as guardians of good community life', to be there for the benefit of the residents and for the safety of this magnificent tree – planted there by Mr Moseley back in the 1900s.
