Cheshire Food & Drink Day in the Houses of Parliament has proved a huge success for promoting local businesses.

Various food and drink producers from all over Cheshire went to the Houses of Parliament to showcase their produce yesterday, Wednesday 2nd March, in an event organized by Antoinette Sandbach MP.

Cheshire Food & Drink Day had cross-party support, with many MP's from across the county taking part, making a combined approach to put Cheshire's food and drink industry on the map.

Cheshire Food & Drink Day was a fantastic opportunity to encourage people to buy locally, not just in Cheshire but across the UK, and to support independent businesses where possible. The event provided an opportunity for MP's to encourage constituents to support their local 'High Street' and to promote the benefits of backing local businesses.

Cheshire has a huge variety of vibrant local rural enterprises and with local people supporting them, they can ensure that every pound spent puts more money straight back into the local economy.

Amongst the various businesses taking part were Snugbury's Ice Cream, Mornflake Cereals, Joseph Heler Cheese, Chatwins Bakery, Forest Gin, Tatton Brewery, Mayflower Apiaries, Find Inspiration in Food, NFU Cheshire and Taste Cheshire.

Antoinette Sandbach MP said: "I am a passionate believer in supporting our local Cheshire businesses so the opportunity to create a showcase at Westminster for our many wonderful food and drink producers was something myself and the other Cheshire MP's really wanted to support.

"I was very happy to organise the event and delighted that it was so well attended, we were able to show the country's politicians and some key business decision makers the quality of the Cheshire offer"
