Barrie Hufton recently retired after 25 years as GP at Audlem Surgery.
He writes
"On Saturday 23 June Shelagh and I are swimming a mile of Lake Windermere to raise funds for the cancer charity Macmillan .We and thousands of others will be part of the British Gas Great Northern Swim .
"Although we have never done any open water swimming before we have been training hard and feel confident about doing the distance !

"Donations can be made either through reception at the Audlem Surgery or through the secure website : www.justgiving.com/Barrie-Hufton.
"Donations can continue to be made through the same channels for several weeks after the event .All donations no matter what size will be very gratefully received .
#Guess the time
"Some donors – for a pound – might like to have a stab at guessing our aggregate finishing time ! ( in hours/minutes/seconds) A bottle of Single Malt to the winner . The form for this is at reception at the Surgery .This is recorded to the exact second ( believe it or not ) through an electronic chip in our swim hats !
