Cat alert

At this week's AWEG (Audlem Wildlife & Ecology Group) meeting, it was reported by one member that he was pretty certain he had spotted an Eagle Owl to the south of the village.

These are huge birds and, as regular readers will recall, a 'suspected' Eagle Owl attacked a number of cats in the village a couple of years ago with one killed and another 'missing, feared dead.'

Just in case the bird does return to the village itself, cats, we believe, are most at risk at dusk. If you have a pet cat, we thought it worth bringing it to your attention as an Eagle Owl's previous visit ended tragically for a couple of pets and their owners.
