Carnival Day 26th May

Bank Holiday 26th May will see the latest Carnival Day in a very long line, dating back to the early 1800's.

This year, for the first time, the powers that be in Chesire East have decided that we, the very small group of volunteers – dedicated to trying to present a fun day – all free – and a chance for many charities to have a stall to garner funds for their various causes, are now required to give Cheshire East a cheque for £500 as a surety.

£500! They will bank this cheque, thereby denuding us of virtually all the funds we have sought over many weeks. PLUS by the by, an admin charge of £40!

This to make use of our own and only public field. And we have to pay just short of £400 insurance, £240 first aid cover, £125 to hire the hall. And many more costs.

I think that this is so very unfair and do believe that Cheshire East is way out if order in so acting. But, they have us by the proverbially. No pay to them, No carnival.

PS: We will get the cheque back later in the year! If we have not caused mayhem on the field, so they say. But too late for us to pay the bills we will have received.
