As normal the Volunteers met at their covered accommodation adjacent to the entrance of the Audlem Mill Shop. Just the 5 of us this month.

Our volunteer team leader, Ange, carried out the safety brief for todays program of work, this involved working in the area of lock 8, regular towpath users will be familiar with the 'bushy fast growing hedge' that regularly encroaches onto the tow path, please see photographs attached and as normal it is a 'work in progress' job.

We have cut back the hedge to the fence post boundary area that was well hidden, about 'just over' a third of the hedge has been cut back giving the tow path its original full width for easy walking access. The intention is to complete the job over the next few weeks, updates will follow this report.

As normal hot drinks were on site with us, plus the luxury of 'mince pies' supplied to the team by our 'Boss' thank you Ange.

The team found a quantity of redundant and extremely rusty barbed wire entangled in the undergrowth, this was removed back to our waste material site for disposal.

The Audlem Volunteers next task force day is planned for Friday January 11th 2019, as normal with a 10:00 start at our covered accommodation.

But as above you may well find the group working on the flight over the Christmas period, both lock keeping and finishing the work in progress at lock 8.
