"Bird's Nest" planning application withdrawn

According to the Cheshire East planning website, the planning application number 15/3275N for 21 houses on the site next to "Bird's Nest" (on the Nantwich Road out of Audlem) has been withdrawn (click here to see the original story).

On going through the documents attached to the application, there is an interesting item about the availability of school places in the area. A letter from the Education Department of Cheshire East suggests that while there is capacity in Audlem Primary School for such a development, "the development is forecast to increase an existing shortfall for 2016 and beyond, for secondary provision in the immediate locality" for the 3 secondary school children predicted.

This is completely the opposite situation to that claimed in the Gladman application (13/2224N). In their original application, a report produced for them by EPDS uses January 2012 figures to suggest that there would be no problem accommodating primary or secondary children (indeed it quotes the figure of 86 spare places at Brine Leas School). Could it be that the new estates which have been built round Nantwich since 2012 (possibly including some from Gladman themselves) have taken up all these spaces?

It is an important point, because if there are no spare spaces, then the developer might be asked to contribute around £16,000 for each space required, which for the massive Gladman development could amount to nearly £300,000 using the same ratios and figures as were used for the "Bird's Nest" case.
