FIFTY years ago today two young Audlem residents celebrated St. James's Day by ringing their first quarter peal ( a milestone for learning bell ringers ).

Geoff Edwards and John Scott should be extremely proud of their achievement and I am sure that many locals of Audlem have appreciated their efforts over the years. Their dedication has seen them ringing regularly before the service on Sunday mornings and also on many important occasions and celebrations.

They have both helped teach learners and have encouraged the local band to improve their skills. They are much respected and well known within bell ringing circles.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Audlem ringers including Geoff and John on their original bells are going to attempt to repeat their early success.

At 7 pm a quarter peal of Bob Doubles will be rung – this will take about 45 minutes and will celebrate St James's Day and their 50 th anniversary.
