It would appear the current uncertainty concerning the future of the Audlem Posties, arises from an agreement between the Royal Mail group ( Note NOT the Post Office) and the union the draft of which can be viewed by selecting the file below the photograph.
The agreement arises from the need to restructure the Royal Mail Group as letter postage has decreased and parcel posts have increased with the rapid switch to online commerce.
Our local posties are uncertain of their future as they have been told that all "walks" will be allocated in order of seniority ( i.e. length of service.)
Our local Posties Ant Sam and Chris have considerable experience (Sam 19 yrs , Ant 17 yrs for example) but it is reported that Sam is 84th in order of seniority.- hence the uncertainty.
Christina writes
"The current situation is part of the agreement with the union.
We don't know when it will happen but we didn't want to just leave without letting everyone know.
The response as been amazing and we are really grateful.
The new walks get picked in order of seniority and as Audlem as never been in a pick before the rumours are rife that people want a rural route, and there are lot of people above us as regards seniority."
