Your Scottish Correspondent recently spotted five Audlem Lass skippers inspecting details of how the Falkirk Wheel operates.
They were reluctant to discuss details with your correspondent, but we understand from our sources that they were exploring whether a smaller version of this engineering wonder could be used to advantage at Audlem.
The Falkirk Wheel is used to carry boats between the Caledonian and Union Canals which are some 35 metres difference in height.
It is, therefore, easy to understand why these skippers might be considering such a construction to transport the Audlem Lass to the centre of the village avoiding the locks.
We understand thinking is at an early stage yet, but we are fearful of having to sit through another two week planning appeal should this idea progress.
