Following the most successful season to date, members of the Audlem Lass Boating Service (ALBS) have been turning their attention to thoughts of a second boat offering a more expansive service than is currently available with the much loved Audlem Lass, which residents will be pleased to learn will restart its service between Lock 15 and Overwater Marina this coming Saturday, 5th April from 10.30am to 4.15pm.

Recently, a small delegation from the ALBS team visited the backwaters of Kerala in southern India to experience a day trip on a house boat. They were so impressed that they began discussions with the owners to transfer the boat and crew to the Shropshire Union canal at Audlem.

We are delighted to report that negotiations for the introduction of the service in Audlem are proceeding well with only the resolution of a few minor technical issues outstanding.

The new craft could be re-named 'Audlem Lass 2' and is is hoped to offer an exclusive experience for groups of discerning guests to cruise our local waters for a day, or even up to a week.

The boat offers a luxurious lounge and dining area, an air-conditioned bedroom and en-suite bathroom and extensive galley facilities. She comes complete with a crew of three comprising skipper, mate and chef who jus fully trained to prepare traditional authentic Kerala dishes which, custom and practice dictates, must be served on a freshly harvested banana leaf.

The ALBS team would be pleased to hear from any Audlem residents with banana trees in their garden, or from local farmers with banana plantations, who might be able to provide a free and reliable supply of fresh cut leaves. Knowing the generosity of Audlem folk, however, we are confident that an adequate supply can be established.

Subject to the resolution of the few outstanding issues, we expect to launch the Audlem Lass 2 Cruising Experience today, April 1st 2014.
