AUDLEM IN BLOOM

During our watering and weeding activities ADAS volunteers have been asked questions about the types of plants we have planted this summer as well as providing positive feedback about the planting.

We have planted over 2000 plants this year, with all work done by volunteers from within the Audlem district. The plants are:

Gaura Geyser Pink – tall pink plant at centre of barrels and troughs
Verbena Endurascape Blue
Calibrachoa Trixy Tricolore
Diascia Litte Drifter
Verbena showboat red with eye
Nemesia Snow Angel
Nemesis Burgundy
Bacopa Scopia Golden leaves
Nepeta variegated
Bacopa Abunda Colossal Pink
Bidens Sundrop

In addition to the planting listed above, we have been refurbishing some of the permanent flower beds and continue to add to the plants in the three new flower beds at the Public Hall annexe, which ADAS adopted last year.

You may have noticed a small bowser being wheeled around the village when we have been watering. This is to avoid carrying watering cans and step ladders around the village when watering hanging baskets.

We have also installed three water butts in the village to minimise the use of tap water, with another to be installed shortly. Thanks are due to The Flower Divas, The Lord Combermere and the Fire & Rescue service for allowing us to connect into their downspouts.

The wooden barrel planters have started to rot and so we are replacing them with plastic ones that look similar to the wooden ones but which don't rot. As we have 38 barrels(8 already replaced) around the village we will only replace one when required.

We are only able to create the Spring and Summer displays with the help of the volunteers and from funds raised from subscriptions via the envelopes being distributed now.  You can also donate online by clicking on this link Donate

If you have any questions you wish to ask ADAS please email us on adascontact@gmail.com or ring Neil Goodyear on 811283.
