So up early again as it is my habit and to a very grey sky. Where is that Indian summer; how long it seems since we had the warmth of the sun on our backs. Far too many folks hereabouts were going on about "we need some rain". Well, now they have it.
Pick up my bag with all the kit, the balls, the medicine bag and my chairs. And that most important ingredient -- the water bottles, both needed for refreshment and for the magic squirt of healing water when a player goes down.
On route to Wrenbury for the game, I call on Pat Winfield to wish her well on her birthday and present her with flowers and my card. I will be to her house later to join in with guests for the canapés and a glass of sparkling wine
So ,driving to Wrenbury and the roads full of eager cyclists on a long long ride. It's surprising just how many cycle events take place around our area. With the cooler weather, it is the first time to be out with my coat and my black hat for I'm expecting it to be chilly as I sit on the sidelines writing my notes.
Referee today is Mick Costello who refereed us in a friendly match when we played Nantwich Young Farmers at this ground a few weeks ago and and we did well against them.

No rain yet which is a blessing, as we kick off slightly early. The better weather is good news for the RNLI big event taking place taking place at the marina and with the donkey derby races on today.
1101
They score as we are a mess and totally outplayed already.
0-1 We are under the cosh as NYF pressed very hard and very furious and their attack
1115
We concede our first corner of the game and on the rebound, they fire in a great shot and score.
0-2
1127
and we get a penalty awarded to us when Beko is taken down in their area.
Kev Rodgers our manager steps up and -- blow me down- the goalie saved his shot.
Wind getting up now as was forecast with occasional gusts.
1141
Blow me down once more as they score again. What can I say, but it was a scramble in our goal mouth and we failed once more
0-3
HALF TIME
Much desultory talking as the seriousness' of being beaten so easily sinks in . Spirits very low but we can and should be better in the second half.
Kick off for the second half with Joe Benson coming off and Tom Bebbington on.
1156
What an absolute mess. They score whilst we are so, so poor.
0-4
1158
0-5. We are absolute rubbish, the worst ever as a team, with too many changes in our play being made and our positional play all over the place.
1160
0-6.
A fantastic 30 yard shot- straight into our goal. A great goal by them but how do we allow that sort of goal to be taken.
Bradley Jones comes off joe Benson takes its place. Brad very upset, throws his dummy out of the pram and stalks off.

0- 7. This is a debalcle!!
Mo Haroon comes off with a groin injury and Kev Mort goes on. Kev himself is a bit whacked as he did a "Tuff Mudder" yesterday. Why they do this I don't know -- but it is totally masochistic.
Pete Jones comes off and replaced by James Bebbington.
1222
and Kev Rodgers comes off with Alan Brindley going on.
1236
and the game virtually over when we give away a penalty. Bang! -- rubbing salt into the wound, they score yet again.
0-8
Well that is not been one of the best days I have enjoyed at football. It was totally men and boys and we were the boys without any idea, tactic or formation.
Our next game is at Goostrey -- for a cup match. A team we have never met before; have no knowledge about them, I wonder if we will get our fire back and come out with a winning attitude..
I can but hope . As they say, "hope springs eternal!"
