It was wonderful to see so many attend George's funeral on Wednesday afternoon, sadly we were unable to attend as Jan's haematology appointment at McMillan clashed. But I'm pleased to say that the result was encouraging. George would have approved.

Hopefully many of you will have seen that we're holding an exhibition of art from Audlem St James Primary School this weekend and have a charity busking spot running on Saturday afternoon.

Although there is no parking available at the mill at any time (except for holiday guests), please could I ask that the forecourt is kept free of cars over this coming weekend. This weekend's holiday guests will have access to their parking space before and after the busking.

Towards the end of May, there was a piano advertised – for FREE – in the Buy/Sell section. With the school holidays – and it being a busy time of the year, I was unable to ask the right people. ........ It is no longer on the site, but I wondered if there was a way that you could contact the 'seller' to ascertain whether they managed to 'find a home' for the piano – as, if not, we would be interested.

This application could present a double whammy in that if it is remotely successful I expect that the planning bid for land just across the road will rear its ugly head. The Americans have an expression for this. It's called mission creep.
Other than to make a lot of money can anyone explain what the immediate village demand is for yet more houses?

Audlem web site reports planning for 112 houses on land adjacent to the Anwyll development. The land is NOT adjacent to but opposite to.
However I am sure that the overwhelming opposition given by the Parish Council, AOL and Parishoners to the recent unsuccessful Mooresfield site will also happen in this instance. I hope that this is not wishful thinking on my part.

Local dishwasher repairer anyone?

The road is open after 3.30 pm today but will shut again at 9.15 tomorrow morning until 3.30pm. The same will happen on Friday morning. The road should open permanently at some time on Friday.

Latest Update:

Conscious of the inconvenience caused due to conflicting information, representatives of CE Highways and Bridges have been in touch with the contractor and I understand that from 3.30 pm today (14/7/26) the road will remain open via the two-way traffic lights.

I have checked with CE Highways this morning and confirm that the bridge repair requires a 24 hour road closure.
Key documentation reporting the closure was inconsistent due to a 'technical error'; the system didn't update from the initial school hours closure notice to the second and final, 24 hour one!
CE Highways are now checking with Home to School Transport providers to overcome any problems caused by this.
I am well aware of the issues this has created for many road users and hope this provides some clarity.
