My sincere preemptive apologies to the bloody marvellous team at Youth Club but frankly, we're all a bit not young.

This week we officially welcomed our first actual young person onto the permanent team of volunteers and it was delightful to see that his noticeable height advantage was just about the only thing to set him apart from the regulars.

Toby got stuck in to table tennis, football and rounders with all the enthusiasm to be expected from a 17 year old, and was able to do it whilst keeping a responsible eye – brilliant. So, where are the rest of you?

Audlem must be positively awash with over 16s at a loose end on a Wednesday evening who would like nothing more than a beaker of free squash and a dollop of low level abuse from their junior peers?

We could tempt you further with the promise of a free mug of tea, school holidays off and unpaid leave on demand? All the craft you can eat and the promise of high level connections?

Pictorial evidence supporting that claim can be seen here as Youth Club friend, PCSO Nick Jarvis, drops in on Wednesday and chews the fat with old timers Lily and Katie (he's the one on the right). If that doesn't swing it for you then you're a pretty tough nut to crack.

Look, just take a deep breath, close your eyes and think of your Personal Statement/CV.

Other highlights last week, the trial purchase of six large bags of Walkers Spicy and Cheese flavoured Mix-Ups – all but one sold in the opening 5 minutes. All sold out on the night. You must be completely mad not to want a piece of this action.

Youth Club meets every Wednesday during term time, 7.15pm- 9.00pm at the Audlem Public Hall. Year 7 upwards welcome. £1 weekly subs, no regular commitment necessary. Come along and help, dearie, if your in Y11 or above.
