We were in The Bridge last Wednesday evening having a volunteers' meeting to plan the activities for Youth Club up until Christmas (yikes!). Just as I was leaving a small plastic tub was thrust into my hands, containing some £53 or so. Vicky and Gary have been selling doggy treats to walkers from the bar and doing various other fundraising bits and bobs, so that they could give the proceeds to Youth Club. I can't tell you how fantastic it is to see such spontaneous and heartfelt support for Youth Club. What a brilliant and positive start to the new term at Youth Club and sincere thanks to Vicky and Gary for their kindness.

There is such a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. The big story of course being Youth Club's move into the Annexe in the quite near future. We are still trying to pull together our interior 'look' and have taken a bit of a punt with a rather splendid sulphur yellow, to be offset by a magnificent blackboard wall and other delights still to be sourced. All will be revealed at the grand opening in November.

I will be undertaking UK Youth's Futureproof training in October, which means we will be able to start offering Bronze and Silver Youth Achievement Awards to any young people who wish to participate in the scheme. Completing this training will provide Youth Club with an initial bursary of £500 to help us kick start the programme. I'll report back with more details on this later but am excited to be able to trail it here now.

We are back in action at Youth Club next week, on Wednesday 6th September, the first day back at school. This week Tony will be setting everyone to work designing a sign for the car park, to be used when Youth Club is in session. I think we're just after a jolly iteration by you guys that says 'don't kill us with your excessively fast car please whilst we are running around the car park of a Wednesday evening'...or maybe a slightly less confrontational form of words that conveys the same meaning.

We've lined up some fun stuff for you this Autumn and we're really looking forward to seeing faces old and new next Wednesday. As usual, 7.15pm -- 9pm in the Public Hall. £1 subs. Happy Times!
