This is not strictly within our catchment area, but there is nothing like it in Audlem and we know that a number of local residents have attended these events in the past.
The Wrenbury & District Model Railway club has just celebrated it's eleventh birthday. They now have 25 members who are kept busy modelling4 gauges of layout.
At the end of January they entertained 27 children from the local junior school as part of their study of the Industrial Revolution.
During their visit the club members were assisted by Chris Clenton who is part of Pete Waterman's Railway nuts team and during his part of the visit showed the children an illustration and model of Locomotion which ran the first ever passenger train from Stockton to Darlington in 1825. This
bicentenary milestone forms the basis of the national 'Railways 200' celebration throughout 2025.
In April as their part of Railway 200 the club is hosting a Toy & Train sale on the 5th with their layouts running in the village hall in Wrenbury. In addition to the club's own sales items, tables will be available for a modest fee to local residents or groups, allowing them to sell their own working and complete items that are no longer is use. To book one of these tables talk to the club secretary on 07767 072785.
The club will also hold their annual 2 day Open Doors event in July, attend the Nantwich Societies event in August and are planning an event in the Nantwich Museum later that month.
All details will appear on the club website https://wrenburymodelrailwayclub.chessck.co.uk/ Meetings are every Wednesday between 7 & 10pm and visitors are most welcome.
