The Willow tree that has stood majestically overhanging the Woore Road bridge for many years has died. It has been slowly dying for 12 months and despite hope it may recover it was not to be.
The bridge is by the crossroads of School Lane and Salford across the Woore road. The bridge is over Audlem brook.
I put in a planning application for it to be felled and had approval to remove it fairly promptly as it was considered dangerous to the main road traffic.
What an opportunity to remove it while the road was already closed for road works recently.
Despite my best attempts with the Cheshire East works controller on site and two days when there was no work being done on the road near it, I could not get approval to have it taken down.
The main road opens this Monday 1st Nov and we have now had to apply for traffic control to close the road again while the tree is removed. I don't know how long that will take and apologise for the inconvenience when it happens.
