The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of ice for the Cheshire East area today.

Snow is likely to fall above 250m during the daytime, with predicted snowfalls of up to 5cm. Overnight, snowfalls of up to 2cm are possible above 150m. Road surface temperatures are likely to fall below freezing, where there is settling snow, with a risk of ice and isolated hoar frost patches.

All high-level gritting routes to the east of the borough will be salted from 4pm and a second treatment is planned for midnight.
These routes include the Cat and Fiddle road, Wildboarclough, Kettleshulme, Macclesfield forest, Rainow, Bollington and strategic routes leading to Whaley Bridge

.The treatment of the low-level routes will take place from 1am.
