With the Woore wind farm inquiry running, readers may be interested in a snippet of news from Taiwan. Late-night noise from spinning wind turbines on an outlying Taiwanese island may have killed 400 goats over the past three years by depriving them of sleep, agricultural officials have said.

Taiwan Power, the operator of the wind farm, says it will compensate the farmer if tests prove the turbines to be the cause.

This is a case that should be brought to the attention of the Woore Inquiry as it suits the arguments of both sides. This could lead to a lengthy, but fascinating, legal debate. Opponents of the local wind farm can use the risk to animals as a key part of their case while supporters of the turbines can now put forward clear evidence that a wind farm's turbine blades do turn from time to time!
