Wind power debate

George Beaman writes: "We are told that the present cold spell is caused by "blocking high pressure" another effect of which is little or no wind. So if we had been relying on a wind farm for power we would be sitting in cold and darkness."

Coincidentally, the contribution of the thousands of wind turbines to power generation was being hotly debated last night in the Lord Combermere – the place where many of the world's pressing issues are solved each week! With the appeal by the wind farm company soon to be heard to overturn North Shropshire District Council's refusal of permission to build a wind farm that will be seen from many parts of Audlem, the turbines' performance in recent weeks is a relevant topical issue.

If you have any thoughts on this, the Audlem Online Forum on the proposed wind farm to the south east of Audlem is still running. It is on page 2 of the Forum topics – once found, click on the bold heading and then, if you wish, you can add your comment.
