Audlem Online is grateful for the messages we have received praising our totally unbiased and neutral stance on the Wind Farm Inquiry that is to start in Woore next month – see yesterday's report.

Amongst the congratulations, we did receive one query from Miranda Goldsworthy-Jones who wrote asking: "Could the web team please explain the comment about country-side polluting monsters with regard to the wind turbines? How do these wonderful examples of modern energy development pollute anything? They utilize a free green resource to produce energy for the benefit of the community in general, just like the proposed Audlem hydro- electric scheme which you all seem to be in favour of?"

Like Miranda, we too love seeing 110m high turbines everywhere and will continue to defend the right of companies to earn massive subsidies by installing them pretty well anywhere there's an open piece of land whatever the views of the local population and elected representatives.

As for the Audlem hydro-electricity scheme, which is fully supported by British Waterways, the technical report and proposal was sent to the Secretary of State for Communities months ago. The Government has not, as yet, responded with the courtesy of an acknowledgement.
