The WI meeting held on 1st March was a Members' Evening so Val Shutt was acting President and Betty Woodward was acting Secretary.

The theme of the evening was WALES as it was St David's Day. Terry Shutt gave a talk on the poet, Dylan Thomas. Margaret Edwards recited some Welsh poems, and "phrases" with translations, and Pat Jones sang the traditional Welsh lullaby "Suo Gan" and the 18th century love song, "Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn", finishing with the Welsh anthem.

The "tea ladies" (Alma Lawrence, Vicki Ellis and Ann Huntbach) excelled themselves with the refreshments which included Welsh cakes, Bara Brith, Welsh potato cakes and a few more – after due research!!

It was an excellent evening – despite the foreign language!
