Why Gladman plans were delayed for a month

Cheshire East blames a glut of planning application for a delay in publishing details of controversial proposals to build 120 homes in Audlem

The application from Gladman Developments first appeared on the Cheshire East council website yesterday, June 25th but was marked as having been registered with the council on May 24th.

Planning officials admit to a delay in publishing the plans but insist that the month long delay will not affect anyone's statutory right to lodge objections or make comments.

Audlem villagers have until July 24th to submit their comments, with plans earmarked to go before the council's planning committee on August 23rd.

A planning department spokesman said: "There was a slight delay in uploading the plans to the website as we have received a large number of planning applications recently. However, there will be time for comments to be lodged within the statutory 21 days. It would have been the same consultation period whenever the plans had been uploaded."

Audlem Online was told unofficially on June 10 this year that a planning application from Gladman Developments had landed on the desk at Cheshire East's planning office.

A telephone call to the council's press office the following day, June 11th, brought confirmation that a planning application had been received from Gladman Developments Ltd but was 'not yet registered'.

Audlem Online has checked the website daily for details of the long-awaited application to be registered.

When it eventually appeared on the Cheshire East website yesterday, June 25th, it was marked as having been registered on May 24th and was placed way down the date-ordered list.

Audlem Parish Council, which is normally consulted on planning applications within the village boundary, has as yet still received no notice of the Gladman application despite it being with Cheshire East planners for at least a month.

The planning application lists a total of 26 documents with many detailed consultation documents on planning matters, from ecology to utilities.

As the Parish Council doesn't meet until July 15th it will have only nine days to make its views known on the development before the closing date for comments.
