A packed pub enjoyed a fantastic set by top local musicians John Gunstone and Jim Kirkpatrick at the Lord Combermere last night, a fitting finale to this year's Thursday night live music programme.

To the surprise of many, including it seemed one of the duo, even Slade's Xmas chart topper got a look into the programme. Five encores testifies to a great night's entertainment.

The night also saw an Audlem debut – a performance by Jamie Holmes of Nantwich. It was pretty spectacular by any standards as Jamie is just fourteen! He wasn't fazed in any way as he delivered a polished solo set with vocals, guitar and harmonica. Great stuff.

We heard that Jamie has already met some of the true greats. Last year, at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, he was introduced to the legendary Joan Baez backstage after her concert, a memory no-one of any age would ever forget.

He has also been in touch with Pete Seeger of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?", "If I Had a Hammer" and "Turn, Turn, Turn!" fame.

When Jamie explained he was planning a performance in tribute to Pete Seeger, back came a personal letter from the now 93-year old with a signed book of his songs.

Some last night wondered if we were witnessing a new sensation as he not only composes his own numbers but can also deliver superb covers with true confidence. And just fourteen! Amazing.

Look out for details of the early 2013 Thursday Night Live Music bookings at the Lord C as soon as it's available here on AudlemOnline and at the pub.
