On Sunday, 28th June 2015, there's a special Wedding event coming up as Combermere Abbey invites brides and grooms-to-be to a personal viewing of a unique ceremonial room for Winter Weddings.

Newly-restored and exclusively for ceremonies during the months of January and February only, 'The Library' is a magnificently ornate and historically important room, located on the first floor of the Abbey.

Once the principle reception room of the Abbott himself, where he entertained Royalty and aristocrats, The Library originates back to the C12th and has superb views over the glacial mere and rolling countryside beyond.

Its current oak panelled décor dates back to the Elizabethan era, enhanced by Sir Stapleton Cotton (1st Viscount of Combermere) in the early C19th with the addition of colourful heraldic shields, depicting his ancestral lineage and family ties through marriage.

This sacred and beautiful space is perfect for winter weddings with its baronial style, velvet-draped windows, rich upholstery, original works of art and huge marble fireplace, which can be lit to add warmth and ambience on a crisp winter's day.

Brides and grooms-to-be will also have an insight to some exciting new developments. Learn also of a stunning new four-poster bridal suite coming soon, with its own reception rooms in the Abbey's Gothic North Wing.

Take time to explore the Abbey's enchanting and beautifully restored Victorian walled gardens. Here in the heart of the unique fruit tree maze, is housed 'The Glasshouse' where the wedding breakfast and merriment will take place.

Of particular interest too is the collection of cottages, a stone's throw from the venue and sleeping up to 49 guests, luxury award-winning accommodation provided within the Abbey's historic stable yard.

The stunning and rare 1927 'Crossley' classic car will be on display, manufactured by the current owner's great-grandfather, Sir Kenneth Crossley. This beautiful navy blue motor car has recently been acquired and is part of the Combermere wedding offer, for couples who marry at the venue to use within the estate.

The open afternoon event will take place on June 28th between 11am – 4pm, and to ensure that you have our undivided attention, this special Winter Wedding event is by appointment only (please email or telephone to secure your booking).

The talented and professional weddings team, headed by Event Sales Manager, Sarah Hulse, will ensure you receive a warm welcome; a personal show round and all your questions answered.

Combermere Abbey is a privately owned historic estate and is located five miles west of Audlem at the junction of the A525 and the A530 Nantwich to Whitchurch road.
