The galleries section of the website has been reorganised. The "recently added" section has been reduced to three images, while the "most popular" section has been extended, but regenerated each new month so that the images shown will change more frequently.

The galleries themselves have also changed – the four seasons remain as they were, but the various village activities (proms-in-the-park, transport festival and so on) have been coalesced into a "village life – events" gallery, the sports gallery has been incorporated into the "village life – organisations" gallery and a new "village life – churches" gallery has been added.

Village HistoryThis has allowed us to create a whole section for the historical pictures section of the site. Most, if not all, the items included in this part of the site come from the archives of the History Society, and represent the results of considerable effort over the years in gathering these items. We (and they) would be delighted if other old photographs come to light and can eventually be included.

"Village history – Scenes" contains a selection of old photographs of the village.

"Village history – People" contains old photographs of groups of people which are, or perhaps could be, identified. A mechanism has been provided for readers to give back any identification of individuals so that we can make the record as complete as we can.

"Village history – Timeline" will contain old photographs where we have been able to get photographs of exactly the same scene as it is now, so that we can do a sort of "then-and-now" presentation.

"Village history – Sources" contains images of actual original documents with some attempt at interpretation.

There are still some detailed technical issues to be resolved, and we have only scratched the surface of the process of getting the photographs into the galleries – for example there are no entries yet in the Timeline section.

But we are working on it!
