Our pup Holly, a Chesapeake Bay/Labrador cross was six month's old when this photograph was taken at Porth Colman on the Llyn Peninsula. She had been running up and down the beach and then she suddenly disappeared!
I wrote the following poem 'Webbed Feet' after discovering what had happened! This photograph was taken at the time and this is the rock pool!
Holly clambered down the rocky path,
Eager for sand and play,
To retrieve the rope and drift-wood once more
And chase the gulls away.
She scampered along the flat sandy beach,
Her ears and paws held high,
When round a rocky pool she flew,
She disappeared from sight!
The rock stood quietly in its watery moat
And from it came no sound,
Until round its darkened, creviced edge,
Came a gently paddling hound.
Deftly, she swam from the salty depths
Into the sunny shallow.
Greeting her master after her FIRST SWIM,
With a shake, a briney shower
And imprints of webbed feet!
