The Weaver Way, the new walking and cycling route that's planned from Audlem to Frodsham across the length of Cheshire, has been shortlisted in the Strategy and Master Planning category of the 2008 Waterways Renaissance Awards.

While work is only just getting underway for much of the route, the initiative to create about 130 miles of new routes for walkers, cyclists and, in places, horse riders, is clearly attracting attention with this national award nomination.

Audlem is the southern gateway to the new facility, which will be a focal point of the Weaver Valley Regional Park. It is hoped the Weaver Way will attract more walkers and cyclists to the village in the coming years as progress is made in developing attractions along its route through some of the finest countryside in Cheshire.
