AFC Match Report

Sunday. 13th November.

Remembrance day across the nation .
I attended St James for a multi church service to remember all who died serving the country . Attended along with 4 children of our Audlem Saints F C , of which I am the chairman. Along with players coaches too. See my photo of the children .
We placed a wreath for the club and the two boys and two girls placed a small wooden cross each as a mark of remembrance.
Then I was back to the Annexe for the match . All our players wearing a poppy on their shirts as they, and the opposition gathered on the centre circle at 1100 to have the one minute silence in remembering .

Referee was Mr Sajinski .
We play Wollaston White Star F C
Kick off was 1105 . This whilst I was still at St James for the splendid service.
Our team is quite strong and with number one goalie between the posts -- Connor Baxter .
We play to an attacking formation .
I arrive back at 1130 to see all going fast , and we seem to be on top .
1136I set to sweeping the lower area by the stairs. Left there by players as they had gone in after warm up session. So annoying .
1138Willaston win a free kick about 10 metres outside our box. Player sends his drive well over the crossbar.
1140Corner to us. Taken, and Skipper Kev Rodgers shoots for goal. We think we have scored but the ball hits the side netting.
Richard Goodwin has to come off after being kicked in the face . Marcus Gott comes on .
1143 we win another corner. No gain
Weather really very gentle after a thin start to the day. Good sunshine. We are playing well and with good spirit .
Half time called.
Pitch cutting up a lot. What with Saturday mornings and over 70 young players active and then seniors here for 4 home games, little chance for it to recover .
Off we go in second half . Sun now in the eyes of Connor in our goal . Play very scrappy now. A ratty game with much discord. Referee gives a red card to a player for WWS -- off mouthing not nice words to the referee , foolish player.
1204Free kick to us. No gain .
We are awarded a free kick just outside their box. Taken , but ball handled and we get a penalty . Dan Rooney steps up.

We are ahead.
A note. Our referee playing the whole match in trousers !
1213Fierce attack on our goal and superb save by Connor. Gives a corner to WW.no gain
But! Then ! -- a so so stupid goal. Easy as pie for our opponents.

Our lead gone. In the twinkling of an eye.
1217And again they strike with another easy goal as we were stupefied.

Very ratty play again.
1220They still press. Win a corner. No gain this time.Sam Mason and Andrew Betteley off
1230A race up field and we concede another goal !
From being top dogs, we now have the tail between the legs .

Is how it finishes. Another game where we surrender the play. Too many losses so far , but we will regain our confidence.
Next match is again at home versus Cooper Buckley. Another strong well welded together team
20th of November and kick off at 1100.

The lovely bright thing of the day was the wonderful generosity of David and Debbie Robertson as he hands me a cheque for £300 for the team. A very noble couple of supporters .
