Water Supplies have now been restored to most residents.

A large section of the village currently has no water – due to problems with the water pipe near the Methodist Church on Shropshire Street. For those who have been following the story on Audlem Online, this is the stretch of water which has now been re-named De-Nile

Representatives of United Utilities are at the scene and have cordoned off the area where water is now gushing out of the ground and running off into the Muller building site. Apparently there is a major burst at the section of underground pipe that has been leaking for over 50 days now. Thank goodness it's expected to be mild tonight as the road conditions would be extremely dangerous if temperatures were to dip to freezing. A United Utilities spokesman said that they were waiting for the workmen to arrive to dig out the ground around the burst and that it could be several hours before Audlem's water supply is back on again. All they could say was that it would be back on by morning. Let's hope so.
