Votes and Boats

Last week, Audlem Online published the views of all four Parliamentary candidates for the Eddisbury ward. Three can be found in the News section as Editor's pick while the fourth candidate's were published in Saturday's news.

The weekend, however, showed the village packed with floating voters*. Have there ever been so many narrow boats on visitors' moorings except, perhaps, for one of the village's major events. Boats were moored well to the north of the Moss Hall aqueduct while the Overwater marina seems to be getting ever busier.

It was good to hear that one couple off the boats had extended their stay in Audlem by several days having found the Audlem walks leaflet in the Mill shop. They said that few villages along the canal provide such a service and that they had stayed in Audlem to enjoy a number of the local walks featured in the leaflet.

*Apologies for that appallingly contrived link. It's a quiet news day – so far.
