We will be running a new Vote Poll shorty so, if you have not done so far yet, this is the time to vote on what to do with the multitude of direction signs in the Square. They surround the village monument, so much so the signs almost totally obscure the monument to Audlem's celebrated cock-fighter, Doctor Richard Baker Bellyse (1738-1828).

So far, the voting has been as follows:

  • 15% say "Destroy them, 'we' know where to go!"
  • 21% have opted for "Keep the main town direction signs."
  • 46% have voted for the clear favourite in this Vote Poll – "Replace with attractive 'finger' signposts"
  • 19% have said "We need Welsh language signs as well", a very creditable result as we only added this option as a reminder of our 'Welsh' vote last year!
Vote now and have your say. Since we started the poll, a number of signs seem to have disappeared – there were eighteen not so long ago. Keep voting and the monument may become more and more visible – unless of course, additional Welsh signs have to be installed!
