Canal & River Trust lock volunteers at Audlem on the Shropshire Union Canal were invited by Audlem Mill Canal Shop to join them on Monday 27th October for training on CPR and the defibrillator provided to them on loan by North West Ambulance Service.

Nick Blair of NWAS is seen here with Brian Foster, Joe Halligan, Philip Shemilt, and David Williams.

Audlem's flight of 15 locks is located many miles from the nearest ambulance station or hospital, and Nick explained that the first few minutes after cardiac arrest are critical – hence the importance in having several people at Audlem trained up in life saving techniques.
