As promised in our Stop Press story, we now have a few more details about how Audlem picked up two major awards at the Cheshire Awards evening held at Congleton Town Hall last night.

It was a great night for Audlem as the village won two major Cheshire Community Councils awards. Firstly, and this was to reflect the huge commitment to and success of the Fun-ky Weekend, Audlem won the 'Children's Award' for Audlem Action for Youth, with a cash prize.

Then the village went on to retain its award for 'Best Kept Village' with a population of 1,001 to 2,500. While there are awards for different size communities, the fact that Audlem was the only community in the whole of the Crewe & Nantwich Borough area to pick up a Community Pride award, makes this a great achievement and a credit to everyone who works so hard to keep the village tidy. And this was the second year in succession the village has won!

Parish Council chairman Richard Furber was presented with the Community Pride plaque which will be an addition to the growing collection of awards won by Audlem in recent years, and all displayed on a wall in the Square.
