Short-ARS on Saturday Next Saturday's short ars walk will be a circular walk from Marbury country park, taking in parkland, a nature reserve and the famous Anderton lift, transporting boats between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey canal.   We start from the country park (pay and display car park and toilets) walking through the country park before crossing the canal and heading to the River Weaver. passing through Anderton nature reserve. This area is dominated by its industrial past although most of the land has now reverted back to nature – however we do have views of the chemical works at Winnington and its wharf on the Weaver. After having a look at the Anderton Boat Lift we return along the canal before finishing our walk back through the country park.   The details for this walk stated it was 6 miles in length but it is probably only a maximum of 5 miles, and the walk is easy on good paths. Dogs are welcome but there are signs requesting that they are kept under close control.   If anyone wants to visit the visitor centre at the boat lift then it might be best to return there after the walk.   Further details of this interesting area including its wildlife and industrial heritage can be found at http://www.northwichwoodlands.org.uk/   The start of the walk is about a 45 minute drive away.   We meet Audlem car park at 9.30 am on Saturday 27th August..
