ADAPT (Audlem and District Acting Positively for Transition)

At our first 'Combermarket' of the year last Saturday we met several people who had moved into the village recently and were dealing with new (to them) gardens who were keen to learn about growing veg and the different flowers and herbs that were on sale.

Those interested may like to know that ADAPT has various groups – Energy, Transport, Food, Lock 15 Gardens and in the future we hope, Craft skills. These meet fairly informally. Once a quarter there is a business meeting involving everyone. This is held on the 1st Wednesday of March, June, September and December in the Baptist Chapel – the next one being on Wednesday June 1st at 7.30pm.

The Energy group meets on the last Wednesday in the month at 2.00pm in the Old Priest House.

The Food group meets on the 1st Wednesday when there is not a business meeting and moves to the second when there is; this is at 7.30pm in the Bridge Inn usually in the conservatory.

Transport is busy at present with projects but would welcome anyone with computer mapping experience to help produce a leaflet of rides (please contact me).

The Lock 15 Gardeners group meets from time to time but they are glad to welcome new people who need more land (Adrian Leighton co-ordinates this group and can be contacted on adrianleighton@btinternet.com ).

So, anyone interested in learning about growing veg, sharing seeds, using the apple press etc. please come along to the next meeting of the Food group at 7.30pm on Wednesday May 4th – we will be delighted to see you.

Surplus produce or seedlings can be sold by members at the Saturday markets. (There is a small fee given to ADAPT funds to cover the insurance).
