Tony Crowther will be leading the next Audlem Ramblers walk on Saturday, 10th August 2024. The walk will take place at theBreidden Hills near Welshpool. Participants are to meet at the Audlem Car Park at 8:30 AM. The walk covers a distance of approximately 8 miles with an ascent of 2500 feet.

The walk will start at The Admiral Rodney pub, located at Criggion Lane, Crewgreen, SY5 9AU. From the pub car park, the route ascends through the woods towards Pritchards Hill, skirts Kempsters Hill, and reaches a lane at the foot of Bulthy Hill. A steep climb through bracken leads to the summit, followed by a ridge walk to Middletown Hill (367m), which offers fine all-round views. The route then covers two more lower peaks before descending to a lane and entering the forest. A bridleway takes walkers towards Rodneys Pillar, visible in the distance. After the climb to the top (365m), the route retraces the path and follows forest tracks and footpaths back to the pub.

Parts of the walk can be very wet and slippery, so appropriate footwear is essential. Please bring food and water, as the walk is expected to be completed by 3:30 PM. Due to the ascent, this is classified as a 4-booter walk.

All walkers must be suitably equipped and prepared for adverse weather conditions. Non-members of the Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to join but are expected to become members after a trial walk or two.
