Under surveillance/attack?

Up here on Heywoods Ridge we're used to RAF Shawbury helicopter training flights skimming the trees, having the windows rattled by the odd Chinook, and watching high-flying jets coming in off the Atlantic or heading to Manchester & Liverpool.  They all break the monotony of lawn cutting, weeding the flower beds, and filling the wine glass.

But yesterday was a bit strange.  A couple of training flights (as usual) in the morning, so nothing new there.  Then around lunchtime an Apache attack helicopter whistled over at treetop height.  What a nasty piece of work they look: wouldn't want to argue with that!  Never seen one over here before: are they after us? All quiet in afternoon, then at 6pm the Virgin balloon appeared directly overhead.  Dogs barked & we took cover in case they had any flour bombs on board!  Exchanged cheery waves, and they slowly disappeared.

All quiet for an hour, then a huge skein of honking geese came across.  Again took cover, for obvious reasons. Decided the day had been far too eventful, so time for Horlicks.  But they weren't finished with us yet: at 8pm a microlight came to check up on us. Are there dark forces out there keeping an eye on Audlem?
