It turned out to be a busy day for Audlem yesterday with the village featured on TV, looking glorious, it has to be said, with its St George's flag fluttering from the church tower. Audlem was on the BBC and Granada News in the early evening and again on the 10.00 BBC News, with many residents interviewed for the cameras.

From the interviews, it seems everyone who took part saw the Welsh vote as light-hearted, albeit making a serious point. There's been a large number of posts on the Forum discussion, although some have taken the vote rather more seriously! Click on Forum on the top bar and then the subject title; scroll down and keep clicking on the new pages.

Over 600 votes have been cast so far, although we suspect a good number have come from outside the village! The voting has stayed at a ratio of 2:1 in favour of the application. It would be interesting to see what might happen if we ever did apply! One resident is clearly making suitable preparations – Alvar Jones tells us a friend of his in the village has arranged for his newly born grandson to be given Welsh names in preparation for Audlem's transfer to Wales.

As you can see, Audlem Online has introduced a new illustration, the Welsh dragon, as a welcome to all our new Welsh friends and the many originating from Wales who live in Audlem.
