Turnpike needs helpers – Saturday 29th October, 1pm

Next Saturday we start work on the muddy footpath improvements in the bottom field down near the bridge off Green Lane.

With the significant help of Dylan Jones and his machinery, we are modifying the first section of the path using lines of geotextile bags filled with mechanically stabilised earth to create two retaining walls that will be backfilled with gravel that will be easier to walk on.

This solution was recommended and approved by Cheshire East Footpaths and is being paid for by a grant from Peak and Northern Footpaths Society. It has also been approved by CE's Ecology officer.

We need half a dozen people to help move and place the bags – they are 25kg each – as well as helping spreading the gravel, from 1pm onwards.

So, if you feel able to help, please contact Steve Elliott on 07787 567001. If possible bring a metal rake and/or a shovel – don't worry if you don't have either!

Many Thanks on behalf of Audlem and the Turnpike Field Working Group
