Turnpike Footway Progress

Steve Elliott, Tim Ball (and the editor!) finished the last 3 walkway bases Monday morning. These beasts are 8 metres long and approximately a metre wide.

The timber was bought from Hales (Market Drayton based) and financed by the Peak and Northern Footpath Society (and partly by Cheshire East), with all labour from Audlem volunteers.

Each assembly weighs about 400 kilos. By my reckoning this would take about 16 able persons to place on the prepared sleeper bearers, and then the anti-slip flooring can be nailed onto the bases.

A particular vote of thanks must go to Yvonne Parker for allowing storage and space to build these assemblies in the dry and comparatively warm!
