Turnpike Field — Where would it be without volunteers?

As is obvious, the vast majority of work that has, and continues to be carried out on the field is done by community volunteers. Turnpike Field wouldn't have progressed as much as it has without this help, including those who actually joined the Working Group (TFWG) several years ago. Amongst many other things, TFWG have helped to develop the wildlife aspects of the field that are now enjoyed by people of all ages — particularly those who have participated in the organised visits/tours.

As well as some financial contributions, the majority of volunteers tend to offer their physical assistance.

In addition, it's also sometimes the provision of machinery — you may remember the pictures of Richard Furber in his tractor, dragging the boardwalk wooden sections across the field, as well as helping with ragwort last year. Also there's the free storage for materials that was provided by Yvonne Parker and the storage and machinery by Norman Huntbach.

Finally there is the huge assistance that Dylan Jones has contributed.

Not satisfied with providing the significant amount of time, machinery and the expertise required to install the boardwalk and the gravel path, Dylan then recently offered to move some of the remaining MOT gravel and spread it at the entrance to the footpath off Green Lane — the area approaching the wooden bridge there has been slowly getting worse for some time.

The photos show him dropping off the gravel.

As you can see from his truck, Dylan does actually have to work for a living as well!! "He is a first class village craftsman through and through. His work can be seen all around Audlem" — not our words but those one of his customers!

He does general construction work and extensions etc. He is also very able to carry out groundworks, having excavators with numerous attachments. Finally, using his tractors etc, he provides paddock maintenance.

All that being said, every single contribution is greatly appreciated, not just by TFWG but by the community as a whole — THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
