There are seven days to go until the last guaranteed date for Christmas Turkey orders at Oxtail & Trotter.
We are thrilled with the amount of orders we have in already for Christmas but just a reminder to all those who have taken an order form and not yet bought them back that Saturday 15th December is the cut off date we put on the order forms for the last Guaranteed orders (this is not to say that we won't try to fulfil any orders that come to us after this date!)
We are delighted to be working with several local suppliers this year to ensure that you get the highest quality Christmas bird on your table, whatever you may choose!
Rachael Huxley of Huxley's Turkeys, near Newport, Shropshire showed us round their fantastic set up back in October. Hugh and I were truly impressed by how healthy and happy these turkeys looked.
Reared in open barns, they had lots of space and fresh straw and were so inquisitive. Rachel gave us a little history of their business: "There have been turkeys at New House Farm for the last three generations, since the Huxley's have been at the farm. In the 50s, 60s and beginning of the 70s there was a hatchery based here selling day old chicks all over the country.
She added: "Turkeys have always been reared for the Christmas trade, originally the birds were hand plucked and sold long legged (not dressed) sold to local butchers and in to the then thriving wholesale markets.
"Now we have expanded the turkey enterprise and all the turkeys are sold oven-ready. We are a family business and the quality of the turkeys and the service we give to our customers is of the utmost importance to us, as it always has been".
