As well as major roads like the M6, numerous local roads were closed for a time yesterday evening by the ferocious storm.
Whitchurch Road on the western edge of the village saw trees down and the road closed. We are grateful to Nick and Julia Cooper for the photos. They say:
"Commotion outside our house and attached is what we found, Whitchurch Road completely blocked and extensive traffic backlog because of the wind."
