Residents living near St James Church have been warned of tree felling operations this weekend.
Church leaders say a large ash tree which overlooks gardens next to St James' churchyard poses a danger and must come down.
Contractors are scheduled to axe the tree tomorrow (Saturday March 10th) and neighbours have been warned to expect some noise and disruption.
A letter to local residents warns: " The ash tree has grown enormously and is now in danger of losing branches which may fall and do damage."
The tree is at the north border of the churchyards and branches overhang a pathway in front of houses in Aldelyme Court.
Residents have been told there may be some debris and contractors will need permission to clear any mess from properties.
The letter from churchwarden Judy Tarrant adds: "Our contractor will do all he can to ensure that there is as little disruption as possible.
