There will be additional traffic through Audlem from tomorrow for five days. North Midland Construction plc have contacted Audlem Online to say they are installing a new communications network – it is, we are told, a fibre optic route from Manchester to the Welsh Assembly – on the A530. The result is the Baddington Lane Bridge will be closed from Monday 27th October to Friday 31st October. The A530 is the road between Nantwich and Whitchurch.

Traffic diversions will be in place via the A525 & A529 – that is through Audlem using the Combermere Abbey – Audlem road and the Nantwich – Audlem road. Any queries can be directed to Tim McGlynn on 01623515008 or 07740448986.

9.08am update – since the news of the diversions through Audlem were published this morning, Audlem Online has received the following from a concerned reader: "Please make sure, with all the extra cars etc next week, the Police/Parking Attendant are asked to do more checking on parking outside the Co-op as double parking is taking place by vans/4 w.d.type."
