We had our second league game today at Kidsgrove playing once again the top team, Scholar Green, on a field that was divided up into nine pitches with loads of youngsters playing.

The game was fast and quite hard, well refereed, with fast movement. We had to make do with a scratch team which caused our manager, Geoff Stretch, much heartache – as only 12 players turned up.

That was a sad thing to face and the rest of the players must be told that this is just not fair or good enough.

The result was we lost 7-0 but we have to report that the man of the match was our goalkeeper, Ginge (Jared Southall-Martin) who pulled off a string of superb saves to keep the score well below the expectation of the opponents.

Next game is here in Audlem versus Nomans Heath. We shall see what the players are made of that day.

Ralph Warburton, Chairman AFC.
