Some may say today is the first day of Autumn, that Summer is now over. Others will argue that September is one of the most glorious months of the year.

Audlem poet Jessie of Poetry Slam fame at the Festival certainly thinks so. This is her tribute to the new month kindly forwarded to us by Ralph Warburton:

SEPTEMBER

When will apples be ready to eat
And the plums be ripe ?

September

When are the pears at their best
And the brambles dripping with juice ?

September

When do the swallows leave home
For distant climes ?

September

When does the sun lose its warmth
And the breezes cool ?

September

Bountiful September
