Too much to do in the run up to Christmas?

If you are feeling under pressure to produce the perfect Christmas for family and friends then you would be welcome to join us at St James to sit still and do nothing for 30 minutes every day until Christmas.

It seems counter intuitive but sitting still gives perspective and helps us remember what is important in our lives – whatever that is for you.

Just sit for half-an-hour

Each morning (except Sunday) there will be people sitting still and doing nothing from 9-9.30am. There will be silence, no reading of Bibles or prayers, no lists to be written, no "things to do" but sit and be still. So don't worry about having a faith, or a different faith, come and be with us to be still.

Don't worry if you're late, or can't stay for the whole time – you're welcome anyway.

Or try it at home first

If you don't want, or are unable to join us then you could try doing it at home – 30 minutes may seem too long, so try for 5 minutes, then increase. I don't find it easy at all, but I know that it has a strongly calming and peace giving influence on me.

Surprisingly I think I probably get more done after!
